Experienced Issues

We are constantly working on improving this project and Stephen is doing all the work on his own. Please have patients as this is a pure hobby for him and not his job or his main goal in life. As things are updated we wish to see all errors removed.

If you feel you have skills that will help with this project feel free to head over to Stephens github and offer your help.

TV out issue

The video out for the PSP is all handled by the PSP itself. The 2000 and 3000 models all have native YRPB component video out. We took advantage of this. We do not change that internal setup. So if you want the best results you must use a OEM component cable connected to a good retro console upscaler.

Lots of HDMI converters exist for the PSP, the shell accommodates these cables. Some converters however  the PSP itself blocks the use of 3rd part TV out cables. At least two of the cables I tried from amazon had this issue.

I have tested after market 3rd party component cables with an upscaler and they seem to work. OEM is best but 9$ component cables from amazon will work if you have a good scaler.  You also can do component to HDMI converter I have had a few customers say this works well for them.

PS Placeable not booting after shut down

Stephen and I ran some troubleshooting after two users experienced their builds would not boot after a first power down. We figured out that some PSP's take longer to boot then others. This time difference means the code that runs when you wake your console up might run to early. Stephen has taken some time to make the code dynamic so you can set a longer wait time. I moved my personal device to 12 seconds and it now has no issue on shut down and boot up.

To make these changes you must be on the pre release 2.3 firmware or later and be in BLE mode by holding the mode button and then go to the settings tab of the web app and click load configuration. You will then see a menu like what is shown below.

BlueTooth Pairing and OTA updates

The updates for firmware on the PS Placeable are done all OTA this is a new tech and is still being developed. There will be times where connecting and updating will drop or have errors. These errors are normal and most often will be solved with a press of the reset button on your console and a refresh of your web browser then try again.

We use chrome for all BT functions. Some browsers block the ability to access BT devices. So please use chrome for the best end results.

Windows will some times not find any Bluetooth devices, flicking the Bluetooth off in the windows settings then back on again often fixes this issue.

Connect your system to power

It is important that you are using an OEM PSP charging cable to power your placeable. This console and the mod have been rated for the 5V the power charger supply's. Using after market chargers and wiring your own devices or additions will effect the power consumption and can cause issues. We are not responsible for damages caused by aftermarket cables and can not refund anyone who uses after market cables and damages their device. Please use the correct ones.

Ribbon Cables

The PSP uses ribbon cables to connect the various buttons. The BT mod has to connect to those same FFC's if you are having button issues the FFC's are where you should start to trouble shoot. The BT board labels and breaks down the buttons into three groups.

- Left (or L on the BT board) This connector handles the D pad and left trigger. This ribbon can cause issues for 3K builds. DOUBLE CHECK that you have connected it all the way to the left or you will experience issues.

- Center (or C on the BT board) This connector handles all the menu buttons on the PSP including the display out, start as well as select. If you are having issues outputting your display. This ribbon should be checked.

- Right ( or R on the BT board) This connector handles the shape buttons and the Right trigger, this cable also handles the power and sleep functions. This should be a straight forward connection always double check though.

The PSP analog stick is handled different on 2000 and 3000 models. The 3000 model has a 4 pin ribbon cable shown below in red. The 2000 has 4 exposed pads that a custom ribbon cable is adhered to. The analog stick CAN NOT control the XMB so you will only know if you have connected it right by testing a game.
